Who are we?
We are your neighbors and we are concerned about the health of the Pedernales River Watershed in Gillespie County. The water quality of our creeks and the Pedernales River are under threat from unsustainable development, discharges, runoff and pollution. We are concerned that uncontrolled development will dramatically reduce the availability of water in our aquifers. Our future is at stake.
The Pedernales River and the creeks that flow into it are surface water which makes up the Pedernales River Watershed. The water in the aquifers is groundwater. Both are limited and both are vital to our way of life.
Steering Committee:
Our purpose:
To protect ground and surface water in the Pedernales River Watershed from the threat of over-development, pollution and depletion.
What we hope to achieve
Our primary goal is to protect both surface and groundwater in the Pedernales River Watershed by
- educating ourselves and others about the threats posed by unsustainable development
- educating ourselves and others the benefits of good water policies
- identifying practices, policies and regulations that will protect the Pedernales River Watershed and aquifer and help to preserve these
- identifying current practices, policies and regulations that may need revision and help bring about change
We work with others, including individuals, businesses, government agencies and non-profit organizations, with similar goals and interests to accomplish our goals.
